Out from the wilderness of a long hiatus, comes the eclectic new sonic expression of barely suppressed rage, SLIMIVICH, from seasoned Ōtautahi Christchurch heavy music journeymen “Slim” Jenkins and Mo Galloway of TAINTED infamy.
An entirely new direction for these veteran of the New Zealand heavy music scene, SLIMIVICH doesn’t explode like previous metal releases, instead it radiates and crackles with all the allure of overloaded high voltage circuits, glowing and arcing in the dark. From the chilling omen of haunted whispers, to the relentless punishment of pounding drums, searing synth and grueling bass, SLIMIVICH seeks to explore the varying textures of what should be considered “heavy” music.
With singles ‘Desert Shimmer’ and the darker ‘Hysteria’ grabbing new listeners by the throat; and having ambushed unsuspecting punk, rock metal and hip-hop fans in Ōtautahi Christchurch and Ōtepoti through 2022; Slimivich is now poised to assault an unsuspecting New Zealand on The Grind Tour through June and July 2023 in support of their punishing upcoming release “Grind.”
Call it alternative or experimental, call it industrial, or even GRIM-HOP, fans new and old will not fail to be impressed by this reinterpretation of the same venom spitting Slim they came to know and love, or hate.
Remember the name SLIMIVICH - No Chill.
“Yes this is hip hop, but not like your cool cousin listens to – fans of both Skinny Puppy and Wu-Tang will both be well served here.”

LATEST SINGLE - GRIND
LISTEN NOW
Contrasting growling bass and abrasive guitar driven verses drenched in digtal rain, with caramelly smooth bouncing chorus, Slimivich welcomes you to the Grind.
Where if you were just a little tougher, invested a little more hard yakka, kept your head a down a little lower, emptied your family bank account out and saddled up with debt, you too could enjoy the fruits of the kiwisaver depleted, first home grant diminished, minor bank of mum and dad investments tapped, drained away, hope never another rainy day dream.
HYSTERIA
A significantly darker release, ‘Hysteria’ is a letter to the terminally comfortable. Led on by watery, wandering keys swimming in dark, beckoning bass, Slims lyrics prove he is content to play villain if only to get a point across. Becoming the voice of the worst type of hysteria, he goads both those who from armchair profess the world is slipping into an inevitable moral decay as well as those who would like to pretend that all is well. Daring one to embrace the hysteria fueling their desire for some perceived lost golden age while chiding the other to pay attention to the growing chaos in others around them, Hysteria ends with a warning of what will result if hysteria left to go unchecked, the loss of all that made their lives whole and comfortable in the first place.
DESERT SHIMMER
“…it is rap/hip-hop being taken in a new direction… there is something about this song which is strangely compelling. Most of that is down to the musical soundscapes he pits his vocals against, as this is Krautrock combined with industrial elements, and his lyrics are delivered in a somewhat slower style than many rappers and this combination creates something different, almost unsettling, which grabs the listener.”
